Traditional Finnish black metal, primitive and raw. With its third invocation, Remains Of Ash continues to expand the singular curse first uttered in its early recordings, channelling a Finnish black metal spirit that not only is unrelenting but also coldly eternal. The music bears the unmistakable mark of the same artist behind Dark Divination, yet here the voice of hatred grows more deliberate, more sculpted, perhaps.

Where the debut lingered in a mist of harshness and its successor began to unveil that spectral mist, this EP strikes an austere balance between the black metal’s ferocity and sharpened clarity, as the production slightly cleaner, does not strip the music of its venom allowing the grimness to breathe, revealing the bitter intricacies hidden beneath its chaotic maelstrom.
