Crucifixation – Blaspheme unto death (LP)

The second release and first album of this from this solo act from New Jersey.

The unholy tide rises once again as Crucifixation returns with their second offering. Emerging from New Jersey’s shadows, this one-man project channels the infernal essence of black and death metal’s old-school roots, now honed and amplified into a more abyssal creation.

Building on the groundwork laid two years ago with the debut release, “Blaspheme unto Death” delves deeper into sonic depravity. The soundscape has evolved significantly, embracing a profusely bass-heavy mix that suffocates the listener in a cavernous atmosphere, as though the hymns are emanating directly from the maw of hell itself. The prominence of the bass lends an oppressive weight to the compositions, elevating the already sinister aura to a new level of bleakness.

The album’s core sound invokes the blasphemous traditions of underground icons like Von, Profanatica or Demoncy, upholding an aesthetic rooted in minimalism yet enriched with an unmistakable malevolence that refuses to wane across its runtime, with very note, every distortion-laden riff, feeling as a call to the heretic hordes, summoning them to arms in service of the dark will.

The bass-heavy mix creates an oppressive density, the guitars remain razor-sharp, slicing through the mire with a feral precision. The vocal delivery through its guttural commands, works as an incantation that seems to echo from a distant, sulphurous chasm. Even if the soundscape can feel almost suffocating at times, it is this very claustrophobia that embodies the record’s unholy vision, which stands as a monument to darkness and defiance.
