m-a: “After decades of recording and releasing, the project has perfected its style and attempts at recreating such atmospheres, with no stylistic change in sight. Specifically, 2025’s Uhgluk is one of its instrumental neoclassical ambient releases. The five tracks are instrumental, with rare presence of vocal howling in some spots: for the rest, they’re based on slow cuts with suspended synth drones, progressive appearance of sampled folk instruments like harp, acoustic guitar and brass, their structures based on three-chord patterns repeated over and over. There are however some riff/dynamic changes, like on opener Thrargluk, where such peaceful arrangements give way for more fatalistic chords based on minor-harmonic scale with background percussion and grievous synth choirs. Some wind-like soundscapes serve to add more epic, desolate atmospheres.”
